SCX.ai Holdings (ASX:SCX): Listing day puts Australia’s AI infrastructure opportunity in focus

Transcription of The Stock Network Interview with SCX.ai Holdings (ASX:SCX), CEO David Keane

Lel Smits: SCX.AI Holdings has officially listed on the ASX today, becoming one of Australia’s newest CurePlace Sovereign AI infrastructure companies, following its $40 million IPO. As AI moves rapidly from experimentation into everyday enterprise and government use, the company is targeting the infrastructure and computing capacity needed to support that next phase of adoption. I’m joined today by SCX.AI’s CEO, David Keane, founder of ASX success story, Big Team Can, to discuss listing and the significance of the milestone, the changing economics of AI, and where the company sees its biggest opportunities in the year ahead.

David, congratulations on today’s listing.

David Keane: Thank you so much, Lel. We think it’s a milestone for our company as we’ve set out to build what we believe is an incredibly important resource for Australia.

That is high performance, efficient and fully sovereign AI capacity to power the next generation of AI applications and agents that we know is necessary to keep Australia at the forefront, drive our productivity and help every Australian live a better life.

Lel Smits: Absolutely. And David, look, after taking SCX.AI from a private company through to an ASX IPO, what does today’s milestone mean to you personally and also for the business?

David Keane: Well, I think for the business, it allows SCX.AI to execute on our plan, which is to fully fund the two operational AI inferencing nodes that we spoke about to investors.

That gives SCX.AI the capacity it needs to be able to deliver these AI token workloads to help organisations to really embrace the power of AI. But I think as well, it’s an opportunity for shareholders to start to understand more about the AI thematic, to get a view and an understanding into what will be an important part of their investment programme. And I think that making SCX.AI a public company allows us to communicate to investors and to provide insights into how they can think about the AI progression and hopefully build success for themselves into the future.

Lel Smits: And David, the conversation around AI is increasingly shifting from models and applications to the infrastructure required to run them at scale. What do you think investors, though, are really underestimating about the infrastructure opportunity in Australia?

David Keane: Well, I think investors are actually starting to realise themselves that they need themselves access to scalable, high-performance, efficient and sovereign tokens to power the applications and agents that they’re building today. I’m continuously impressed with the understanding that we’re seeing in institutional investors in Australia as they start to realise that AI is all about inferencing.

It’s all about how do we build these applications and agents. And certainly the concept that inferencing is the defining AI workload now and into the future is becoming something that investors are starting to really understand. And that doesn’t mean there isn’t a different opportunity in AI training, and we’ve always recognised that.

But look, it does seem that people are getting an understanding that inferencing is where they can use this true capacity to transform the way business works. And I’m really encouraged as investors continue to think more about that and ask questions about that transition in the economy.

Lel Smits: And David, as you know, now the real journey begins. You’ve raised $40 million and have a public market platform to accelerate the business. What are the biggest opportunities that you want to pursue with SCX over the next phase of growth?

David Keane: Well, first of all, I want to thank all of the amazing team members at SCX. They have been incredible in creating what I believe is Australia’s leading AI inferencing service and to the investors that have supported this IPO and believe that SCX is well placed to execute on our vision.

With the capital behind us, SCX is well placed to execute on that vision, to build out our two nodes, our two AI inferencing nodes here in Australia, to help Australian organisations to take advantage of that capacity to build those next generation AI applications and agents. And it puts SCX in a good place to continue to grow our business, to help organisations embrace AI as they transition to a new economy, and to do that in a way that understands the importance of the economics and the environment. I think that’s something that investors and all Australians will care about more into the future.

Lel Smits: David, thank you and congratulations again on the IPO of SCX. Look forward to hearing your developments as a listed company.

David Keane: Thank you so much for the opportunity to talk to you.
